LA Mixed League - REGISTRATION OPENS October 28 at 1:00pm
Levels:
• Beginner: Combined DUPR up to 13
• Intermediate: Combined DUPR 13-15
• Advanced: Combined DUPR 15-18
Divisions: Mixed (all ages)
Match format: Best of 7 games. All 7 games will be played each evening since overall games could be a factor to decide a tiebreaker at the end of the season.
Team Roster: Teams must have a minimum of 4 players (2 Males / 2 Females) on their roster to compete (and may have up to 8 players on roster). Players may be added to the roster up until the completion of the first two weeks of the season—at that time all rosters will be frozen. Up to six players may compete in any given match.
Team captains are responsible for making sure they have coverage for every week. Matches cannot be rescheduled. If your team does not have the minimum number of players for one week, you forfeit any games that cannot be played and give the opposite team automatic wins for those.
No player is allowed to play more than 4 total games per match or with the same partner more than two games. The entire match can be completed with 4 players. Additional team members can play as long as total DUPR rules are adhered to. A minimum of 4 players must play each match.
Pre-game rules: For the lineups, team captains can do 1 or 2 behind the back. The winner decides whether to act or react to the first match lineup and chooses to play men’s or women’s doubles first; the loser has to act or react accordingly. For the following round, the captain who lost the number guess gets to choose to act or react. Each round alternates from there.
Game format:
- Winner of “1 or 2” behind the back gets to choose serve or side.
- Games are played to 11, win by 1.
- Switch sides at 6.
- One time out per team per game.
- Players on court call lines and foot faults. Teammates off court AND spectators are not allowed to participate in line calls.
Each match will consist of the following games:
• Game 1: 1st Gender Doubles: Gender (Men or Women) will be determined by a coin toss.
• Game 2: 2nd Gender Doubles: The opposite gender from Game 1 will play.
• Game 3: Mixed Game 1
• Game 4: Mixed Game 2
• Game 5: Mixed Game 3
• Game 6: Mixed Game 4
• Game 7: Mixed Game 5
Allowing for warm-up time and rest time, courts should be booked for 3 hours in order to complete each match.
How DUPR total is calculated: DUPR is recorded one time at the beginning of the league when a member is added to the team roster. Your DUPR total is the total of the 4 highest DUPR ratings on your team, regardless of who plays each week. If a person has two DUPR IDs, we will use the higher DUPR ID. (Players are responsible for reaching out to DUPR to combine multiple IDs as needed.)
*If a player does not currently have a DUPR rating, they should enroll in the league division they feel most aligns with their skill level. All non-rated players will be evaluated after the first match to determine their eligibility on their current team.
Weather/unforeseen event: In the event of a weather or other unforeseen event, captains will be asked to vote on a makeup day before the end of the league, and iPickle will make an effort to book a court for the makeup. If only one or two teams can’t make it, those teams can book two courts for 1 ½ hours on their own to do the makeup match within 10 days. If all captains cannot agree on a makeup day, or if court time cannot be booked, the day will be a forfeit for all teams.
Refunds and waitlist: Any team who is not able to purchase entry to the league can be placed on a waitlist. If a spot opens up in the league before the first meeting, teams will be given an opportunity to join on a first-come, first-served basis. No refunds are allowed once the league has started.
Team fee: Fee is $350 per team
Play times: Courts will be pre-booked at Whittier, Arcadia, and Arroyo for league play on Mondays 7pm – 10pm. The complete schedule for each division and location will be announced closer to the league start date.
