Fall 2025 4x4 League Club vs. Club: Cerritos vs. La Habra

It’s Fall and we’re back at it again! In this unique Club vs. Club league format, teams stay home or travel to the other club to play exclusively against teams from the opposing club.

From September 22 to November 10, four teams from Cerritos will challenge four teams from La Habra to find out which club reigns supreme in Orange County for the Fall season!

• Teams must represent their respective clubs.

• Play team vs. team matches on pre-booked courts each week

• Improve your game by competing with players at your level: below DUPR 14 or over DUPR 14

• Win swag, meet new people, and cheer your team to victory

Fall league begins on Monday, September 22 and runs for 8 weeks.

Space is limited to 4 teams per division. Stay tuned to our instagram @ipickle.us for all the latest news and updates!

How much is it to enter? $450 Per Team (Registration Opens Monday, Sept. 8 at 10:00am). Registration Deadline will be Sunday, 9/14 at 11:59pm.

How do I register?
It’s time to recruit your team! You will need a minimum of 4 players on your team. The team captain will register at the desired division below. Levels:

Intermediate: Combined DUPR 14 and under (no members over 4.0), no lower limit.

Advanced: Combined DUPR 14 and over (no members over 5.0), no upper limit.

Teams will only play matches at their level.

Divisions: Co-ed, minimum 2 men, 2 women (all ages)

Team format: For each match, teams play 6 games.

Game 1: Men’s Doubles

Game 2: Women’s Doubles

Game 3: 1st Mixed Doubles

Game 4: 2nd Mixed Doubles

Game 5: 3rd Mixed Doubles

Game 6: 4th Mixed Doubles

All combinations are played—players must rotate partners each game and only play with the same partner once per match.  As a result, no player will play more than 3 total games per match. The entire match can be completed with 4 players (2 men & 2 women), or additional team members can be “subbed” in as long as total DUPR rules are adhered to. A minimum of 2 men and 2 women must play each match.

Game rules:

For the lineups, team captains can do 1 or 2 behind the back. The winner decides whether to start with women or men and puts their lineup out first; the loser gets to react to their first lineup. For the following round, the captain who lost the number guess puts their lineup out for the opposite gender match and the other captain reacts. Each round of mixed alternates from there.

  1. Winner of 1 or 2 behind the back gets to choose serve or side.
  2. Games are played to 15, win by 1.
  3. Switch sides at 8.
  4. One time out per team per game.
  5. Players on court call lines and foot faults. Teammates are not allowed to participate in line calls.

Allowing for warm-up time and rest time, courts should be booked for 3 hours in order to complete each match.

Score reporting: Team captains can upload their scores into Global Pickleball Network. Once a captain signs up, an iPickle admin will invite you to join the iPickle league as team captain. Team captains are allowed to enter their own scores and must send a picture of the completed scoresheet to Kim via email. Kim manages the iPickle Global Pickleball Network admin account.

Team roster: Teams must have a minimum of 4 players on their roster to compete (and may have up to 8 players on roster).  Players may be added to the roster up until the completion of the first two weeks of the season—at that time all rosters will be frozen. Up to six players may compete in any given match.

Team captains are responsible for making sure they have coverage for every week. Matches cannot be rescheduled. If your team does not have the minimum number of players for one week, you forfeit the games you can’t play and give the opposite team automatic wins for those.

How DUPR total is calculated: DUPR is recorded one time at the beginning of the league when a member is added to the team roster. Your DUPR total is the combined DUPR of the two women and two men with the highest DUPR ratings on your team, regardless of who plays each week. If a person has two DUPR IDs, we will use the higher DUPR ID. (Players are responsible for reaching out to DUPR to combine multiple IDs as needed.)

Weather/unforeseen event: In the event of a weather or other unforeseen event, captains will be asked to vote on a makeup day before the end of the league, and iPickle will make an effort to book a court for the makeup. If only one or two teams can’t make it, those teams can book two courts for 1 ½ hours on their own to do the makeup match within 10 days. If all captains cannot agree on a makeup day, or if court time cannot be booked, the day will be a forfeit for all teams.

Refunds and waitlist: Any team who is not able to purchase entry to the league can be placed on a waitlist. If a spot opens up in the league before the first meeting, teams will be given an opportunity to join on a first-come, first-served basis. No refunds are allowed once the league has started.

Team fee: Fee is $450 per four-person team

Play times: Courts will be pre-booked for league play on Mondays 7pm – 10pm. The complete schedule for each level will be announced closer to the league start date.

Number of teams required: Each facility must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 teams in order to hold a league. There must be an equal number of teams from each club. The total number of matches depends upon the number of teams in the league as follows:
2-team vs. 2-team league, each team plays the opposing club’s teams three times (total of 6 matches)
3-team vs. 3-team league, each team plays the opposing club’s teams twice (total of 6 matches)
4-team vs. 4-team league,  each team plays the opposing club’s teams twice (total of 8 matches)

Captains:
Each team is required to have a team captain who is responsible for fielding their team, and communicating with the league coordinator about scheduling, results and enforcing the Code of Conduct with their team. There will be a mandatory virtual captain’s meeting on September 15, 2025 at 7:30 PM. If you are unable to attend, please contact League Administrator Kim at kim@ipickle.com ASAP.

Score reporting: Team captains can upload their scores into Global Pickleball Network. Once a captain signs up, an iPickle admin will invite you to join the iPickle league as team captain. Team captains are allowed to enter their own scores. Pam and Courteney manage the iPickle Global Pickleball Network admin account for Cerritos and La Habra.

Winner: Winner of the league will be the top team across both sites, determined by:

  1. Total Game Wins/Loss Record
  2. Total Matches Won
  3. Total Points

The site with the highest number of games won will determine whether the trophy goes to Cerritos or La Habra.

Prize: The winning team for each division will win a commemorative “champions” sweatshirt.

FAQs

Yes! As long as you adhere to the rules of the match and no two people partner together more than once, you can have more than four people play in one night. The total DUPR for your top two women and top two men on your overall team must not exceed the limit, regardless of who plays each week.

Games take place on Monday evenings from 7pm – 10pm. The games will alternate between two clubs. We will pre-book the courts for you and the schedule will be announced shortly before the league begins.

Get your subs to play! Teams are allowed up to 8 players on the roster to sub for people who can’t make it every week. Your team’s combined DUPR is calculated by adding the ratings of the top two women and top two men on your roster, regardless of how often they play. We cannot reschedule any matches, so we encourage you to have enough subs to cover every match in the schedule.

Yes, non-members can join the league.

You can only join two teams if they are in separate levels or separate leagues. You cannot join two teams in the same level and league.

Definitely. We will be doing leagues for different levels, gender leagues, and more. Stay tuned!

Global Pickleball Network is the scoring and leaderboard tool we are using to track the league scores. It is free to sign up for and use. Only captains are required to sign up; members are not required to sign up. Captains can enter their own scores for matches. Alternatively, captains can snap a photo of the scoresheet and send it to Ganda (Arroyo/Arcadia) or Pam and Courteney (La Habra/Cerritos) to have the scores entered. You do not have to connect your DUPR account to your GPN account.

Team captains should register and pay for the whole team. Team captains are responsible for collecting payment from their team members.
